Limited Manufacturer’s Warranty by Ruff Cycles
This Limited Manufacturer’s Warranty (“Warranty”) is a voluntary warranty provided by the manufacturer RUFF CYCLES (RUFF CYCLES GmbH, Im Gewerbepark B69, 93059 Regensburg, Germany). This Warranty is granted free of charge and applies to the products listed below that were purchased in retail on or after January 1, 2024 (“Product” or “Products”).
Your rights under this Warranty are in addition to and do not affect your mandatory consumer rights under applicable law, including statutory warranties where applicable.
Before your first ride, please read the manuals provided with the Product carefully. They contain important safety and maintenance instructions. RUFF CYCLES also recommends registering your eBike on our website within 90 days of purchase (https://www.ruff-cycles.com/register/).
Registration is required to benefit from the extended warranty.
What Does this Warranty Cover?
RUFF CYCLES provides a warranty against material and workmanship defects for a limited time from the original date of purchase under normal use and in accordance with published guidelines. These guidelines include, but are not limited to, the user manuals, technical specifications, and service notifications.
The original retail purchase refers to the first purchase of the Product in new condition directly from RUFF CYCLES or an authorized dealer.
This Warranty applies exclusively to purchases made in Europe and is provided by RUFF CYCLES GmbH. For purchases outside of Europe, the distributor in the respective country will be the first point of contact for warranty claims.
Which Products Are Covered and How Long Does the Warranty Last?
1. Steel Frames and Forks
- Ruff Cycles offers a voluntary 10-year warranty on the structural integrity of all steel frames and steel forks for the Lil’Buddy, Lil’Missy, and Biggie models from model year 2024 onwards.
- This Warranty is valid for the original purchaser who has successfully registered the Product within 90 days of purchase.
- Subsequent owners are entitled to the statutory warranty of two (2) years upon presenting proof of purchase.
2. eBike Systems and Components
- Bosch or Bafang eBike systems, as well as other non-wear components (e.g., crank arms, brake calipers, mudguards), are covered under the statutory warranty of two (2) years from the date of purchase.
- Third-party components (e.g., Shimano, Magura) are covered by their respective manufacturers. RUFF CYCLES assumes no responsibility for warranty claims related to third-party components.
3. Exceptions: Wear and Other Exclusions
Certain components are subject to natural wear and tear and are therefore NOT covered by the statutory warranty or this voluntary Warranty. These include:
Tires, chains, cables, chainrings, sprockets, brake pads, hubs, hub bearings, bottom brackets, headsets, brake discs, grips, saddles, gear and brake cables, swingarm bearings, bearing surfaces, seat posts, and drivetrain components.
This Warranty covers material and manufacturing defects present at the time of delivery. Wear, improper use, or damage caused by accidents is excluded from the Warranty.
How to Submit a Warranty or Statutory Claim
1. Contact US
Send your inquiry using our online form (Claim Form) and provide the following:
– Your original receipt
– The serial number of the Product
– Photos of the problem
2. Shipping the Product
The customer is responsible for shipping costs to send the defective Product to Ruff Cycles, except where applicable consumer protection laws require otherwise. RUFF CYCLES will cover the return shipping costs for valid warranty claims.
3. Replacement of the Defective Part
Under the terms of this Warranty, defective parts will be replaced only. Refunds or returns of the entire Product are excluded.
4. Notification Period
Warranty claims must be reported within 30 days of the defect occurring or as otherwise required by applicable consumer protection laws.
What is Not Covered by the Warranty?
- This Warranty does not apply in cases of defects or damage resulting from:
- Damage caused by falls, accidents, or corrosion.
- Paint damage due to improper storage.
- Cosmetic scratches or superficial imperfections.
- Color changes caused by environmental factors or cleaning products.
- Labor costs for part replacements or upgrades.
- Use under unusual conditions, in competitions, and/or for commercial purposes outside the intended use.
- Insufficient maintenance, excessive wear, overloading the bike, incorrect installation of components, or modifications with additional components.
- Defects and damages caused by force majeure, accidents, improper use, or unprofessional repairs.
What Leads to Loss of Warranty?
The Warranty becomes void or does not apply in cases of:
- Modifications to the frame or eBike, including repainting or motor tuning.
- Improper use or overloading (e.g., exceeding the maximum permissible weight).
- Commercial use of the eBike.
What Happens if My Frame is No Longer Available?
If a specific model is no longer available, RUFF CYCLES will provide an equivalent replacement. However, there is no entitlement to specific colors or designs.
Special Notes for “The Ruffian”
The aluminum frame of “The Ruffian” model is covered by the statutory warranty of two (2) years from the date of purchase.
Additional Conditions
- Warranty claims can only be processed with a valid proof of purchase.
- Costs for diagnostics, modifications, or unrecognized warranty claims are the responsibility of the purchaser.
- This Warranty is non-transferable and applies exclusively to the original purchaser of the Product. It does not extend to subsequent owners or commercial purchases unless otherwise required by applicable law. It applies only to private individuals (not company purchases).
